The accidental catch of elasmobranchs is a threat to the sustainability of fisheries, as well as to the conservation of the marine environment. Understanding the issue and adopting effective measures to reduce bycatch are essential steps towards minimizing fisheries’ impacts on marine species and ecosystems, as well as ensuring a profitable and sustainable fisheries sector. The ELIFE roundtable is an opportunity to meet with key stakeholder to discuss future strategies and the tools to be deployed to implement national management policies for the protection of endangered species.
